ZitatA few other features include:

The four core classes: fighter, priest, thief, wizard
A d20-based, roll-high system
No darkvision — total darkness is dangerous
Treasure grants XP, and tracking it is dead simple
Roll-to-cast spells — magic is exciting and risky
Simple distances (close, near, far)
Monster morale and reaction rolls
Always-on initiative — time is easy to track
The six classic stats (3d6 in order)
No skills — just ability checks and advantage/disadvantage
Separate ancestry and class
Randomized character class abilities — emergent character growth!
Low hit points — fast and deadly combat
Simple encumbrance (gear slots)

Bullet Points:

Zitathttps://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6si7v

For the last several weeks, as rumors of Wizards of the Coast's new version of the Open Game License began circulating among publishers and on social media, gamers across the world have been asking what Paizo plans to do in light of concerns regarding Wizards of the Coast's rumored plan to de-authorize the existing OGL 1.0(a). We have been awaiting further information, hoping that Wizards would realize that, for more than 20 years, the OGL has been a mutually beneficial license which should not–and cannot–be revoked. While we continue to await an answer from Wizards, we strongly feel that Paizo can no longer delay making our own feelings about the importance of Open Gaming a part of the public discussion.

We believe that any interpretation that the OGL 1.0 or 1.0(a) were intended to be revocable or able to be deauthorized is incorrect, and with good reason.

We were there.

Paizo owner Lisa Stevens and Paizo president Jim Butler were leaders on the Dungeons & Dragons team at Wizards at the time. Brian Lewis, co-founder of Azora Law, the intellectual property law firm that Paizo uses, was the attorney at Wizards who came up with the legal framework for the OGL itself. Paizo has also worked very closely on OGL-related issues with Ryan Dancey, the visionary who conceived the OGL in the first place.

Paizo does not believe that the OGL 1.0a can be "deauthorized," ever. While we are prepared to argue that point in a court of law if need be, we don't want to have to do that, and we know that many of our fellow publishers are not in a position to do so.

We have no interest whatsoever in Wizards' new OGL. Instead, we have a plan that we believe will irrevocably and unquestionably keep alive the spirit of the Open Game License.

As Paizo has evolved, the parts of the OGL that we ourselves value have changed. When we needed to quickly bring out Pathfinder First Edition to continue publishing our popular monthly adventures back in 2008, using Wizards' language was important and expeditious. But in our non-RPG products, including our Pathfinder Tales novels, the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, and others, we shifted our focus away from D&D tropes to lean harder into ideas from our own writers. By the time we went to work on Pathfinder Second Edition, Wizards of the Coast's Open Game Content was significantly less important to us, and so our designers and developers wrote the new edition without using Wizards' copyrighted expressions of any game mechanics. While we still published it under the OGL, the reason was no longer to allow Paizo to use Wizards' expressions, but to allow other companies to use our expressions.

We believe, as we always have, that open gaming makes games better, improves profitability for all involved, and enriches the community of gamers who participate in this amazing hobby. And so we invite gamers from around the world to join us as we begin the next great chapter of open gaming with the release of a new open, perpetual, and irrevocable Open RPG Creative License (ORC).

The new Open RPG Creative License will be built system agnostic for independent game publishers under the legal guidance of Azora Law, an intellectual property law firm that represents Paizo and several other game publishers. Paizo will pay for this legal work. We invite game publishers worldwide to join us in support of this system-agnostic license that allows all games to provide their own unique open rules reference documents that open up their individual game systems to the world. To join the effort and provide feedback on the drafts of this license, please sign up by using this form.

In addition to Paizo, Kobold Press, Chaosium, Green Ronin, Legendary Games, Rogue Genius Games, and a growing list of publishers have already agreed to participate in the Open RPG Creative License, and in the coming days we hope and expect to add substantially to this group.

The ORC will not be owned by Paizo, nor will it be owned by any company who makes money publishing RPGs. Azora Law's ownership of the process and stewardship should provide a safe harbor against any company being bought, sold, or changing management in the future and attempting to rescind rights or nullify sections of the license. Ultimately, we plan to find a nonprofit with a history of open source values to own this license (such as the Linux Foundation).

Of course, Paizo plans to continue publishing Pathfinder and Starfinder, even as we move away from the Open Gaming License. Since months' worth of products are still at the printer, you'll see the familiar OGL 1.0(a) in the back of our products for a while yet. While the Open RPG Creative License is being finalized, we'll be printing Pathfinder and Starfinder products without any license, and we'll add the finished license to those products when the new license is complete.

We hope that you will continue to support Paizo and other game publishers in this difficult time for the entire hobby. You can do your part by supporting the many companies that have provided content under the OGL. Support Pathfinder and Starfinder by visiting your local game store, subscribing to Pathfinder and Starfinder, or taking advantage of discount code OpenGaming during checkout for 25% off your purchase of the Core Rulebook, Core Rulebook Pocket Edition, or Pathfinder Beginner Box. Support Kobold Press, Green Ronin, Legendary Games, Roll for Combat, Rogue Genius Games, and other publishers working to preserve a prosperous future for Open Gaming that is both perpetual AND irrevocable.

We'll be there at your side. You can count on us not to go back on our word.

Forever.

Neue "Edition", D&D Digital VTT mit 3D Minis

Announcement Video:

ZitatThis is specific to the new play test Unearthed Arcana document for character rules.

• Adding a character origins, character building, feature. Covers race, background and lvl one feats.

• New versions of PHB races. Likely similar to newer races we've seen in the last few books. You can expect to find familiar racial features as well as new ones.

• Tiefling "subraces" are based on the different lower plane of existence their legacy comes from. Not just from the Nine Hells anymore.

• New race called the Ardlings. A people touched by the outer planes, like Tieflings and Aasimar, but like the new Tieflings they will be from a variety of upper planes. They have the faces of animals. Meant to be similar to Guardinals or Archons from previous editions. Will have limited flight.

• Orc will be in this new PHB as well. Will be the same as in Monsters of the Multiverse.

• You will have the ability to have characters with parents of two different humanoid races, beyond the ones we are familiar with. Seems to be mostly aesthetics based, with one parent having the dominate traits you use in game.

• Backgrounds will be more important now, and more customizable. Will be more mix and match from lists of features, with prebuilt samples available. +2/+1 ability modifiers, in the past associated with race, will now be attached to background. They will be "floating", allowing you to place them anywhere. Equipment packages for backgrounds will be updated to be more pick and choose, but also all backgrounds will have the same value of starting equipment.

• Backgrounds now come with 1st level feats. Feats will now have level prerequisites. So no Lucky or Great Weapon Master feats at level 1. First level feats will not have ability score increases, but higher level ones may. Will be adding new 1st level feats that give flavor to the background.

• Cultural elements that are represented in game and mechanics are moving from races to backgrounds. An example being that there are no longer "mountain" or "hill" dwarves, as those were cultural separations. Those differences and options will be within Backgrounds now.

• Race designs and features will mirror and work with what we see in Monsters of the Multiverse. New PHB races are meant to represent the most archetypical and common, with MotM having more specific variations.

• Some feats will be revised, and some will be brand new. Revisions are meant to enhance the abilities of the "archetypical" user of the feat, as well as give useful options for those who aren't. Some will have options that can benefit the whole party. New feats are meant to fill in character architype gaps.

• Spells have new groupings, with three new spell lists; the Arcane, Divine, and Primal spell lists. These will be referenced in things not tied to class; such as racial spells, magic items, and feats. As new classes, spells, and features are added, this should make it easier to incorporate spells into those things.

• Conditions will be revised with a new one, slowed.

• Inspiration will be revised. Will not be solely given by DMs, but can be reliability gained via rolling a nat 20. Reminds me of momentum mechanics in other games. You can give inspiration to other players when you gain it, so if you already have one, the one gained won't go to waste. Humans gain an inspiration at the end of a long rest. Meant to encourage use of inspiration instead of hording it. Not stated in the video, but you also lose unused inspiration at the end of a long rest.

• Crit hits will be revised. They are looking into ways to separate effects of crit hits between weapon attacks and spell attacks. Weapon attacks will function mostly as it was before. They are looking for player feedback on spell crits. Crit hits are for players now. Monsters/enemies will get something else, like recharge abilities being recharged. They are looking for feedback.

• Crit success or failure will no longer be only for attack rolls, but saves and ability checks.

• Everything here is subject to change, based on feedback.

• All of this is meant to work with the 5.0e books you already have.

• More UAs to come.

- Mogu Imperium

Artworkbeispiele:

Insgesamt 21 Beispielseiten gibt es hier zu sehen: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/02/19/ragnaros-and-ysera-featured-in-21-page-preview-for-world-of-warcraft-chronicle-volume-1

Spielsysteme / Talislanta: Savage Lands
07. Mai 2015, 08:57:04
Das Manuskript ist fertig.

ZitatOkay, after a long period of "radio silence" it's time for some Talislanta: Savage Land updates. There's a good bit of news here, so I'll start from the top.
After some delays, TSL version 1.0 was finished about 5-6 weeks ago.

ZitatTSL manuscript 2.0 was completed today, with the exception of stats and equipment "prices" (more on that another time), which hopefully will be finished this week. 2.0 included a massive re-write of 1.0, with many new additions.

ZitatOnce stats have been added, manuscript 2.0 will be finalized, and ready for initial playtest. I'm hoping that this will begin next week or the week after, at the latest.
John Harper has volunteered to run the first TSL playtest group in his regular Tuesday night gaming session. The initial playtesting wil be done by Tal-savy players only, as there are parts of the new game system that will need some tweaking, and for initial playtest purposes we're going to use Tal2 rules in a few spots.

Among the new rules that John's group will eventually be testing: the new Mass Action System designed to allow smooth transition from individual to group-level actions (which so far has gotten a lot of positive feedback), new rules for Survival, and Tony's brand new (today!) Barter rules.
All of the new rules use game mechanics based on the Action Table, so they should be easy to learn and fast-playing.

Lastly, one of the new additions that I like best: the massive Random Encounter Tables, which by example show players and GMs what the inhabitants of the Savage Land era are like, and also provide numerous adventure seeds and ideas for GMs. Each major region has its own Table, which can be used to create random but area-specific encounters - or just as a source of ideas.

ZitatContent-wise, TSL features a solid mix of original-Tal peoples and creatures plus brand new tribes, flora and fauna. One of the major design points was to develop the TSL milieu in a way that helps to explain things that would occur "later" in the original Tal game.

For longtime Tal-players, TSL wil show what the predecessors of several original-Tal races were like, and help fill-in their back-stories with new info. For example, TSL explains the origins of original-Tal peoples such as Thralls, Jaka, Xambrian Wizard Hunters, Ahazu, and the Green Men. And creatures that were categorized as "extinct" in original Tal books show up in TSL, live and in the flesh.

None of these connections are explained in TSL, so those who are not familiar with the original Tal milieu won't be sitting there and scratching their heads. But if you're a longtime Tal fan, you'll be able to connect the dots between the two milieus, and hopefully get a little extra enjoyment out of TSL.

Ich bin gespannt.  ;D
